Tanooki, too
JapanLA has always held a fond place in my heart as it was the first shop that I showed and sold in, and a key in nudging me to move and live off my art in Los Angeles. I'm so happy it also introduced me to Mandie, the fun writer, creator, and fashionista of Geeky Glamorous. When she invited me to participate in her Geeky Glamorous Art Show, I was so stoked and immediately knew what I wanted to make.
I frequently am asked and suggested to do cosplay, but besides Halloween, I haven't much done it. I really do enjoy designing costumes though, like my Yoshi, Gizmo, and Team Rocket ones, so there is a hint of cosplaying passion in me. However, I decided to let my crochet do the work, and craft a cosplay version as the me I would imagine in Super Mario 3!
I will admit that making me in yarn was kindof weird, but at the same time, I've been told repeatedly that the girls I make look like me. Honestly, I think it's just because I have big Okinawan doll-like eyes, and I make dolls... really! But I thought I might as well do it.
I had a blast at the show, and am so proud of Mandie for doing such an amazing job curating! All the art will be up and running throughout the month of February, so please stop by if you are in the neighborhood!
