The Dead Essential

This month, I was really grateful for the opportunity to be showcased at iam8bit's all-woman art show, "Grace & Ritual." In the sea of pop-cultural art that I am often swimming in, it was refreshing to do a piece stripped down to the raw life of being a human.

No matter how perfect of an outfit I think I have, my look can be destroyed without the right hair. Whether you're a guy or a girl, I feel that hair grooming is a ritualistic necessity. Your hair, in itself, is an outfit, and at times, can make or break you. "The Dead Essential" is a piece based on my constant battle with my hair. These dead fibers will forever be an obstacle in my life, and even more problematic when I grow old and start losing them.

Co-founder Amanda White did a beautiful job curating this show, and you should definitely check it out if you're in the Los Angeles area. All art will be on display till May 26th! If you're interested in my piece, you can adopt her through the iam8bit store : )
