A Purple Tooth
I've never craved a cupcake as badly as I did whilst completing this project. A friend of my very supportive friend, Liz, loves cupcakes, and has a daughter who loves purple - thus, a big purple cupcake was commissioned! I have crocheted cupcakes in the past, but Liz thought it would be an adorable sight to see a baby carrying a cuddly cupcake around as if it were a teddy bear.
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with those sugary cake decors. I would collect them even if I never planned on baking a cake, and then most of the time, just eat them on their own. So, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity, and create new patterns for my own cupcake decorations! I have never been very skilled at perfecting flat crochet pieces, but I used the round method I usually use, and was able to tweak some very cute hearts and stars.

I still have childhood stuffed animals like, Ms. Banana and Lamby, that I have fond memories of, and get that warm fuzzy feeling inside when I look at, and to think that someday, this little girl might just feel the same way about a cupcake I made makes me truly happy. I can't wait to see her with her new friend!
I am so excited to gift this to Isla! I will be sure to take pictures!
ReplyDeleteYay! I will send it sometime this week!!
ReplyDeleteUpdate: Jackie shared with me that she overhead Isla talking/babbling in her room. When Jackie went to check on her, Isla was sitting in her crib talking to the cupcake :) :) :) how cute is that?
