The Doom of Cute

I remember once in high school, writing about how I wish my little sister wore a Gir costume all the time so that I would always like her. I know that sounds a little insensitive, but have you watched Invader Zim before? Gir is one of the most adorable characters to have ever been created. So, of course I was really happy to take on someone's request to make a Gir keychain.

She told me she didn't have a preference for how I made Gir, but that she did particularly enjoy this photo of him:

I'm a bit relieved she likes Gir with his eyes shut happy because I was anticipating the struggle of crocheting eyes that did not resemble boobies had I made them open. Previously I did buy some zippers to use in construction of Gir amigurumi, but I decided not to use them this time because it would hardly be put to use on such a small item. I also toyed with the option of constructing glasses for him but whether I used yarn or felt, it looked a bit ridiculous to me. So in the end I just left him as his cheerful self and I think he turned out pretty cute.

Now that I'm done, I want to eat some cupcakes and watch Invader Zim!

Sweatshop Jams

Just wanted to give you an idea of what goes on in my workshop, and how easily distracted I get when presented with multiple projects to complete. The left side displays my progression along with the music choice that went along with the creating, and the right side lists the items to be completed (I forgot to include the damaged giraffe reference photo in the beginning):

Now, time to pack, ship, and begin on the next batch of orders!

Back to Work

I've never had a job where when I go on vacation, I get overwhelmed with wanting to return to work, until now. I was gone for three weeks in Hawaii and all I wanted to do was crochet. But I had to stop myself from buying yarn because I had just stocked up on all the colors I needed to complete my orders, so I would just be wasting money. Plus, I only brought one little carry-on bag with me, so there was a very limited amount of room (clothes is important!). However, I did bring my workstation-on-the-go and already started at the airport on a requested pink penguin keychain with music notes on it for my little sister.

I also managed to finish six French Toasts and two Creamsicle Chill Pops, so despite not being able to finish online orders, I was somewhat productive. Yet, now that I'm in the sweatshop, I kindof want to go back on vacation! Surprisingly I pulled a lot of orders while I was gone, which doesn't quite offset the amount of money I dispensed this break, but it does let me know I am headed in a terrific direction.
